The experience

Learn about traditional Dales dairying (butter and cheese-making) from farmer’s wife, Mrs H, in a Victorian Kitchen. Then have a go at using original dairy equipment and make your own butter to taste with locally sourced oatcakes or warm bread. Visit a modern cheese-maker to see how cheese is made in the Yorkshire Dales and taste the different varieties. Wander aound the museum to discover the stories of the people and landscape – see what makes the Yorkshire Dales National Park such a special place.
